Occasionally, Dr. Phipps will get it in her mind to make some homemade cinnamon dog treats for the clinic. These are usually very popular and often clients will ask for the recipe. We thought we would share it with everyone here on the blog! It is an adapted version of another homemade dog treat recipe. Happy baking and we hope your pups enjoy!
Cinnamon and Peanut Butter Dog Treats
Ingredients:
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup rolled oats or oat bran
1 tablespoon cinnamon
2 large eggs
1/2 cup water (+ a bit more if dough is too dry)
1/2 cup non-fat dry milk (I find this optional)
1 cup peanut butter
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 300° F.
In a large bowl, whisk together all the dry ingredients. Add eggs, water and peanut butter. Gently combine the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients.
Knead with your hands or mix with an electric mixer until you have a smooth ball of dough.
Take a rolling pin and flatten out the dough. Use a cookie cutter to cut out fun shapes. I sometimes use a shot glass as it makes a smaller sized treat.
Make sure you’re using a non-stick baking sheet or spray it with PAM.
Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden. If you want the dog treats to be softer, take them out 5-10 minutes earlier.
These can be stored for a week or so in a plastic bag or frozen for later use! Trust us, it makes A LOT of cookies!
